On July 27th, the Wautoma Library Board approved moving forward with a new mural on the library’s Main Street wall. Kelly Meredith of Butternut, WI has designed a stunning mural featuring books and local wildlife. The mural will be painted onto large polymetal sheets with a sealant to keep it from fading. The mural will then be installed onto the wall. The mural is estimated to cost about $22,000.
In August, the library ran a fundraising campaign for the community to pick out classic novel titles for the books on the mural. We raised $7,000!
Then, in September, the library was awarded a grant from the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin for the mural project.
Thanks to all of our generous donors and the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin, we have reached our financial goal of $22,000! We are still accepting donations toward the mural project for any additional costs in having the mural installed and any future touchups the wall may need.
If you would like to contribute to the beautification of downtown Wautoma and spreading the joy of nature and literature, here are some options:
- Make a donation directly to the project.
- Purchase a Commemorative Brick.
- Spread the word of the project!
Thank you so much for all of your support!
